GUWAHATI: Amid Bharatiya Janata Party National President Jagat Prakash Nadda's two-day visit to Assam, the rival Congress slammed the saffron party for using the IPR department of the state for their own publicity. Assam Pradesh Congress spokesperson Rituparna Konwar accused the BJP of using the DIPR for their own "advertisement" as the officials of the department invited the journalists via their social handles for the same.

Konwar in his statement questioned the act done by the officials. "Keeping all the protocols aside, who permit them to invite everyone to the ruling party's meeting?" he asked in his statement.

He also said that this department is merely to connect citizens with the government schemes and facilities, not to send invitations for the ruling government's political meetings.

The Congress Spokesperson also took a jibe at Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his media advisor to CM for letting this happen and condemned the act.

The Assam Congress, demanding a probe into the matter, also warned the ruling party not to use the Government department for political gimmicks in near future.
