Assam: Bodo leaders express anguish over demise of veteran Congressman Tarun Gogoi

KOKRAJHAR: Various party and organisation leaders in Bodoland Territorial Council region including BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, UPPL president Pramod Boro, Ex Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma, and ABSU president Dipen Boro have extended deep condolence over the demise of former three time chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi who breathed his last today.

Mohilary said that Gogoi was one of "prominent political leaders of the state and the state lost a good sentiment."

Assam Social welfare minister and senior BPF leader Brahma has extended deep condolence over demise of ex chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

She recalled Gogoi's contribution towards the political arena in the state as well as the whole of society of Assam. She prayed for his eternal peace and extended her support to the bereaved family members.

She informed that she will be visiting the residence of Gogoi in the morning tomorrow to offer homage to Gogoi.

UPPL president and former ABSU president Pramod Boro also expressed grief over the demise of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

He said that Gogoi was a prominent leader of the state and  prayed for his eternal heavenly peace.

Former Rajya Sabha MP and senior UPPL leader Urkhao Gwra Brahma also condoled the demise of ex-chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

He recalled the contributions of Gogoi who had initiated bold steps during the BTC Accord in 2003 and accordingly BTC accord recieved a "good response in the Bodoland region."

"The news of passing away of Shri Tarun Gogoi, ex CM of Assam has saddened me deeply. Its a big loss for Assam. His strong role made the BTC Accord happened in, 2003. He will be remembered as an ever uncompromising politician of Assam and India. My deep condolence to bereaved family on his death", Brahma added.

While extending deep condolences, ABSU president Dipen Boro said that the news brought sadness among the society. He said that the state loss a great leader.

After a 2-month long battle for his life, 3-time former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi on Monday breathed his last at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the state’s capital city aged 86. The veteran leader, who was suffering from post-COVID complications, died after ‘multiple organ failure’ at 5:34 pm.
