MARGHERITA: Pranjal Prasad Newar an M. Tech Student of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh has developed a Pulse Oximeter Device to measure the Oxygen level of the Human body.

Pranjal Prasad Newar is the elder son of Netra Bahadur Newar, a resident of Number 1 Lazum Margherita under Tinsukia district of Assam.

He is has done M. Tech in Thermo Fluid Engineer from NERIST.

Newar developed the device using a Nokia 1100 Mobile Charger, 1 Display unit, 1 Controller unit, and one Censor unit which around an expense of Rs 600-800.

Speaking to InsideNE, he said, "I was interested in making electronic devices since childhood. And after completion of my M. Tech in Thermo Fluid Engineer, I started my career with the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research(CIMFR) CSIR at Bilaspur unit Chattisgarh. When I returned home during the time of the COVID-19 Lockdown I thought of developing this device."

Since the pandemic has hit the world the pulse oximeter device is highly demanded in the market to measure the Oxygen level of a human body for those who are suffering from COVID, adding this Newar said, "So  I thought of developing a Pulse Oximeter device by using unused items of my house which is running smoothly."

He further stated that through Research and Development(R & R&D), he wants to develop more and more devices that are of low cost.

"I am also making many other useful devices that are essential for the day-to-day life of every human being", said Pranjal Prasad Newar.

Locals praised Nwear's move and urged the Assam government to focus on Pranjal Prasad Newar, who they consider an asset of Assam.
