In two separate operations, alert troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force, Assam apprehended 5 Indian cattle smugglers along with 9 cattle heads from bordering area of village Kaleralga under Kharuabandha Police Station in South Salamara, Assam and North Balabhut, Tufanganj Police Station in Cooch Behar (WB) on night of July 19th, 2020.

Acting on tip-off, on 19 July 2020 at about 0430 hrs, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Sishumara and Boreralga of 06 Bn BSF carried out a joint operation in riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh International border. Joint operation party observed suspicious movement of miscreants, on being challenged them, the miscreants tried to flee away from the spot.

BSF troops showing high level of alertness and apprehended 04 Indian cattle smugglers along with 05 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smugglers identified as i) Akidur Islam (26 Yrs), S/O Noor Zamal, VPO & PS- Sukhchar, Distt-South Salamara (Assam), (ii) Md Jahangir Ali ( 22 Yrs), S/o Md Solemuddin Sheikh, R/o Chhotoharipur, PO- Piajbari, PS- Sukhchar, Distt- South Salamara (Assam), (iii) Shahidur Islam (22 Yrs), S/o Noor Islam, R/o Degreechar, PS-Sukhchar, distt- South Salamara (Assam) and (iv) Emdadul Hoque, (22 Yrs), S/o Jai Bahar Sheikh, VPO & PS- Sukhchar, Distt- South Salamara ( Assam). Apprehended smugglers alongwith seized cattle heads have been handed over to PS- Kharuabandha, Distt – South Salamara (Assam) for further legal action.

In second operation, on 19 July 2020 at about 2220 hrs, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Balabhut of 62 Bn BSF observed a suspicious movement of miscreants on Indo-Bangladesh International Border, on being challenged them, the miscreants tried to flee away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness. Alerted BSF troops apprehended 01 Indian cattle smuggler along with 04 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smuggler identified as Bahadur Islam, (20 Yrs), S/o Jahangir Alom, R/o Airkata, PS- Fokirganj, Distt -Dhubri (Assam). Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized cattle have been handed over to PS-Tufanganj, Distt – Coochbehar (WB) for further legal action.

Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier in different operations launched in bordering area have seized 78 cattle heads, which were trying to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes & illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes.
