Assam: BSF apprehends 6 cattle smugglers along with 132 cattle

In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force ( BSF ) apprehended 06 Indian cattle smugglers along with 132 cattle heads from bordering area of village Karairalga, PS– Kharuabandha and 30 Bigha, Distt –South Salamara and Dhubri (Assam) and South Balabhut, PS- Sahebganj Distt – Cooch Behar (WB) on 14-15 July 2020.

Acting on tip-off, on 14 July 2020 at about 0515 hrs, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Sishumara and Boreralga of 06 Bn BSF carried out a joint operation in riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh International border. Joint operation party observed suspicious movement of miscreants, on being challenged them, the miscreants tried to flee away from the spot. Alerted BSF troops apprehended 04 Indian cattle smugglers along with 15 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smugglers identified as i) Muktar Hussain (32 Yrs), S/O Mohizul Haque (ii) Akhter Ali ( 35 Yrs), S/o Lt Ahmed Ali, both are same home address R/o Boroballu, PO – Hazirhat, PS- Sukhchar, Distt-South Salamara (Assam), (iii) Mohizzuddin Bepari (27 Yrs),S/o Late. Lal Mia, R/o Raipur, PS- Gouripur, Distt- Dhubri ( Assam) and (iv) MD Safiqual Islam (29 Yrs), S/o Lt Lalu Sheikh, R/o Kopapati (South), PO–Hazirhat, PS- Sukhchar, Distt - South Salamara (Assam). Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized items have been handed over to PS- Kharuabandha, Distt – South Salamara (Assam) for further legal action.

In second operation, on 14 July 2020 at about 2250 hrs, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Chowkichar of 41 Bn BSF observed a suspicious movement of miscreants on Indo-Bangladesh International Border, on being challenged them, the miscreants tried to flee away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness. Alerted BSF troops apprehended 01 Indian cattle smuggler along with 27 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smuggler identified as Md Jahanuddin Mullah, S/o MD Manohar Mullah (24 Yrs), R/o Village Time Basani, PO & PS Dhubri, Distt -Dhubri (Assam). Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized cattle have been handed over to PS-South Salamara, Distt – Dhubri (Assam) for further legal action.

In third operation, on tip-off, on 15 July 2020 at about 0310 hrs, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Talai of 62 Bn BSF observed a suspicious movement of miscreants on Indo-Bangladesh International riverine Border, on being challenged them, the miscreants tried to flee away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness. Alerted troops apprehended 01 Indian cattle smuggler along with 26 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smuggler identified as 1) Habizur Rahman (19 Yrs), S/o Kashim Ali, Vill Jhagra para, PO –Jhagrapara, PS –South Salamara, Dist- Dhubri (Assam). Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized cattle was being handed over to PS-Tufanganj, Distt – Cooch Behar (WB) for further legal action.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes & illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes.
