Assam: BSF apprehends drug smuggler with Ganja

In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force ( BSF ) apprehended a drug smuggler along with 66 Kgs Ganja, 875 bottles of Phensedyl and 06 cattle heads from bordering area of village Bharbanda, PS– Dinhata, Distt – Cooch Behar (WB), Vill- Baskotal and Vill- Kismat Karala Part- I, PS- Sahebganj Distt – Cooch Behar (WB) on 13-14 July 2020.

Acting on tip-off, on 13 July 2020 at about 0345 hrs, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Gitaldah and Daribas of 38 Bn BSF apprehended an Indian drug smuggler along with 51 Kgs Ganja, 875 bottles of Phensedyl and 06 cattle heads from indo-Bangladesh International Border area. While the contraband items and cattle heads are being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended drug smuggler identified as Saidul Haque, (26 yrs), S/o Kasua Seikh, R/o vill- Juridharla, PS- Dinhata, Distt- Cooch Behar (WB). Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized items have been handed over to PS-Dinhata, Distt – Cooch Behar (WB) for further legal action.

In second operation, on tip-off, on specific information of Field “G” Team Cooch Behar, on 13 July 2020, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Karala of 38 Bn BSF observed a suspicious movement of miscreants on Indo-Bangladesh International Border, on being challenged them, the miscreants fled away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness. During searching 08 Kgs Ganja has been recovered from the spot. Seized contraband item have been handed over to PS- Sahebganj, Distt-Coochbehar (WB) for further legal action.

In third operation, on tip-off, on specific information of Field “G’’ Team Cooch Behar, on 14 July 2020, alert BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Baskotal of 38 Bn BSF observed a suspicious movement of miscreants on Indo-Bangladesh International Border, on being challenged them, the miscreants fled away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness. During searching 07 Kgs Ganja has been recovered from the spot. Seized contraband item have been handed over to PS- Sahebganj, Distt-Coochbehar (WB) for further legal action.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes & illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes.
