Assam: BSF apprehends Indian smuggler, rescues 201 cattle

On the intervening night of 8th September, an operation, the troops of Border Security Forces (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler and rescued 201 cattle heads from the bordering areas of District Coochbehar (West Bengal), Dhubri & South Salamat (Assam).

Troops of BSF BOP Hatichar of 41 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in the general area of village 60-Bigha, PS- Sukhchar, Distt- South Salamara (Assam) and apprehended an Indian cattle smuggler along with 10 cattle heads, while these were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smuggler identified as Sajjan Shekh (30 Yrs), S/o Rajat Sheikh, R/o Devnaralga, PS & Distt- South Salamara (Assam).

The apprehended cattle smugglers along with cattle heads have been handed over to Police Station Sukhchar, Distt- South Salamara (Assam) for further legal action.

BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all endeavors to contain such trans-border crimes.
