Amid the rising cases of COVID-19, the flood situation in Assam is worsening day by day. The people of Assam has been struggling with floods for past few weeks now. Their livelihood is in danger, their houses flood away. People died and many are still missing. Their agriculture got affected. Now no one knows how many days, months or years it will take to get everything back to the normal and the people can again resume their life. As the rains ease, the focus will be on aiding those whose houses and livelihoods were destroyed.

According to officials of forest department and Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), at least 76 animals were killed, while 121 animals were rescued as 95 per cent of the world-famous Kaziranga national park, home to more than 2,200 one-horned Indian rhinoceros, was inundated.

The fans of the popular South Korean pop group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) have given a hope to the lakhs of sufferers by raising a sum of Rs. 5 lakh for relief efforts.

On Wednesday,15th July, Bhavna Barman, a 23 years old Dibrugarh University (DU) student who is pursuing her Master's degree in Economics became the main reason behind this great initiative. Bhavna took to her Facebook handle and informed that she had reached out to the BTS fan group in India to urge them to come forward and help Assam.
Bhavna wrote, "They constantly sing about self love and mental health. They donate millions of dollars every year and are official brand ambassadors of UNICEF in South Korea. Their fans never shy away from donating too. And it is showing!"
