Assam By polls: From crorepatis to under matric; know your candidates

GUWAHATI: The Association for Democratic Reforms and Assam Election Watch on Saturday released the analysis of the affidavits for all 31 candidates contesting in Assam Assembly By-election to be held in 5 constituencies.

As per the report, there are 5 (16%) candidates who have declared criminal cases against themselves. Out of these, 4 (13%) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

While 9 (29%) candidates are crorepati the  average assets per candidate contesting in the by election from Assam is Rs. 1.35Crore.

Two (6%) candidates have not completed Class X education. One candidate is only 5th pass (Ariful Islam: Bhabhanipur) and another is only 8

th pass.

5 (16%) Candidates are 10th Pass and 8 (26%) candidates are XII Pass.

There are 8 candidates who have declared liabilities.

All 31 candidates are men, there are no women candidates.

The elections are to be held in Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Gossaigaon, Thowra and Mariani on 30th October, 2021.
