Assam cabinet approves reopening of educational institutions from September 1

GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet  on Thursday approved the reopening of educational institutions in the state from September 1.

However, only the 10th, 12th and under graduate and post-graduate final year classes will begin from the aforesaid date.

The announcement was made by state education Minister Ranoj Pegu while briefing the media after cabinet meeting.

The minister stated it is mandatory for all the students above 18 to be administered with at least the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine. While the students staying in hostels will have to be fully vaccinated.

It is mandatory for all the teachers and other staff t be vaccinated, stated the education minister.

The detailed SoP for the students and educational institutions will be issued on August 30.

A special vaccination drive will be carried out from August 27 in the educational institutions to administer vaccine to those teachers, students above 18 and employees who have not taken the shot yet. The drive will continue till September 5.

The educational students have remained closed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
