Assam: Cache of arms and ammunition recovered in Udalguri

Police administration in Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) region, Assam has continued it's search operation in the districts of the council since a few days ago and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

On Sunday morning, a team of Udalguri, Assam police comprising additional SP Bidyut Das Boro,Harisibga officer in-charge Premangkhu Hazarika and  Orang police outpost in-charge Dipak Kumar Das carried out a search operation along the Ghagra village area under Harisinga police station.During the operation,police team recovered a huge cache of arms arms and ammunition in a buried under ground from the Ghagra Part II near Lakshmi Bazar in the district.The recoveries were includedn one HK-33 riffle,an M-16 riffle and an AK-47 riffle and 27 rounds of live bullets.

Earlier on Saturday, in two separate operations, police recovered arms and ammunitions from Kokrajhar and Baksa district respectively in Assam.

However,no one was made arrested in this regard.

Baksa Police on Saturday recovered two-AK rifles, 2 Pistols (9 mm) and ammunition from Goreswar Police Station area and 1 AK 47 and ammunition from Simla Police Station area in the district.

In Kokrajhar, police administration in Kokrajhar district, Assam recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions from deep forest areas of  Tipkai in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.

Based on inputs about illegally keeping illegal arms, a search operation for recovery of illegal arms and ammunitions was conducted in the forest areas under Tipkai police outpost of Bagribari police station, Assam by a team of Kokrajhar Police led by Bedanta Barkakoti, Addl.S.P.(B) and OC, Bagribari police station. During the operation, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from beneath a bamboo groove in Duligaon area under Bagribari police station on Saturday. The recovery arms and ammunitions included an AK series rifle, two AK series magazines, one polythene sheet used for wrapping and covering the rifle and magazine to which lubricant was applied, 30 number of AK series ammunitions in a plastic container half-filled with rice husk.

"A strict investigation and follow up has been carried away into recovery of arms and ammunitions", said a senior police officer in BTAD.
