GUWAHATI: Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress Member of Parliament from Kaliabor, has slammed Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that CM Sarma just wants to be seen on television and run after headlines.

"It has become a habit to be seen on TV. The chief minister does not get satisfied until he appears on TV," said Gaurav Gogoi taking a jibe at CM Sarma.

Gogoi further added, "Our Education Minister also, following the same path, will cut your conversation in between and start talking about something else. Hence I want to urge this government to stop running after headlines. It is not mandatory to be seen on TV every day."

Gogoi also raised the cancellation of examinations and the newly enforced evaluation process for Class 10 and 12 issues and said that it's mental harassment on the students as the state government has failed to implement new criteria like other states.

"Other states have conducted examinations successfully. Those states have shown concern over the future of the students. What happened in here?" asked Gogoi.

"Here they are more about how to increase their power, how to conduct elections, how to buy MLAs. They do not have concerns over Coronavirus and exams. They just need power," Gaurav Gogoi accused.

Gaurav Gogoi also has taken credit for the syndicates that are being busted in recent days in Assam and said, "Congress has been raising this issue for years now that cattle and drugs syndicates are being run under the nose of the BJP government. Now it has been proved and I want to thank the chief minister for his support to our demand. But I also want to ask that why they have been silent in the last five years?"

Gaurav Gogoi also asserted a cold war between CM Sarma and his predecessor Sarbananda Sonowal and asked for clarification from Sonowal as his government is being put under the question of running corruption and syndicate in the state during his tenure.
