GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Commitee (APCC) has issued a show cause notice to its MLA Sashikanta Das for publicly showing his allegiance to the BJP-led state government.
A communique in this regard undersigned by General Secretary Bobbeeta Sharma informed that his statements and actions “have created misgivings in the minds of party workers and tarnished party image and party discipline.”
Sharma also informed the Raha MLA that APCC president Bhupen Borah has sought a clarification of his stand and intentions within 24 hours.
Earlier today, Das pledged support for the Assam government during a meet with chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in another jolt to the grand old party in the Northeast Indian state. He is expected to shortly join the ruling party.
Addressing the press, Das said within a short span, Biswa Sarma has been able to bring communities in the state together and also given a rapid boost to development.
Sarma has assured all help for Raha, Das added.
“Therefore, I have decided to support the government,” Das said.
Although he said that he has still not taken a decision on joining the BJP, he said that he will support the government for the sake of the development of his constituency.
