Assam: Congress to contest in 43 Seats in Phase I of polls; allies rest 4

GUWAHATI: Assam Congress today announced that it will field candidates in 43 Constituencies (out of a total 47) in the Assam Assembly elections. The Grand Alliance's other constituents will contest the rest 4 Seats.

"Assam Pradesh Congress Committee wishes to announce that out of the 47 Assam Assembly Constituencies going for poll in the first phase of election, the INC will be contesting in 43 seats for which the list of the candidates has already been released and the remaining 4 seats will be contested by the Mahajot alliance partners," the party said in a statement issues moments earlier.
