Assam Congress, while welcoming the Centre’s announcement of Rs 20 lakh crore financial package, urged the Central government to implement it in letter and spirit so that the last man of the country receives benefits at this time of global pandemic.

Speaking to the media persons, Debabrata Saikia, the leader of the opposition, Assam Legislative Assembly, alleged that around 25 crore families across the country have not yet received benefits under the National Food Security Act even after 50 days of enforcing the nationwide complete lockdown.

“Survey reports of many institutions including Azim Premji University have revealed that 25 crore out of 80 crore people have not yet received help under the Food Security Act,” Debabrata Saikia, leader of the opposition, Assam Legislative Assembly, said.

He also alleged that more than 50 percent of the people who have bank accounts under the Jan Dhan Yojna have not received the financial aid of Rs 500 per month under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package announced by the Prime Minister.
