Assam COVID Update: 2891 cases recorded in 24 hours, death toll rises to 345

Assam detects 2891 Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The state tested 39347 samples. The positivity rate now stands at 7.34%

Informing this, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “lert ~ 2891 #COVID cases detected today out of 39347 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 7.34% Kamrup M- 670; Kamrup R- 232, Karimganj- 175, Dibrugarh- 151
Total cases 121224
Recovered 90697
Active cases 30197

Meanwhile, the state witnessed 2020 recoveries on Friday taking the total recovery tally to 92717.

The death toll rises to 345 after 15 patients succumbed to death.

On Friday 4th September, the Assam government lifted the night curfew and weekend lockdown in the state.

The chief secretary has also issued a list of guidelines for Unlock 4 in Assam, in keeping with the guidelines issued by the government of India on August 29.

State Health & Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference on Friday warned that if the COVID-19 positive cases continue at the rate of 3000 per day then it will be a disaster.
Sarma further said that the total tally of COVID-19 cases will reach 90 thousand in a month by the end of September. Sarma also stated that the state cabinet will take a strict and major decision on Saturday.
