Assam: Denied to hold a procession, Congress leader Sushmita Dev claims 'democracy on threat'

Sushmita Dev, Congress leader from Silchar, Assam cried foul play when the Congress procession was stopped by the state authorities citing reasons of corona pandemic. In that, she evoked, that BJP has been holding programs at the same time, then why can't the Congress?

Dev was quite vocal about the incident. She said, "We are maintaining social distance if the CM of Assam can do a program, why can't Congress do that? We request that we will maintain social distance even if 5 metres are required". On being replied that this is not the time for agitation, she said, "agitation is a part of democracy".

Sushmita Dev (born 25 September 1972) is a politician and a member of the Indian National Congress. She was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha from the constituency of Silchar in Assam. She is currently the president of All India Mahila Congress.
