Assam: Dhemaji machete attack victim succumbs to her injuries

DHEMAJI: The victim of the sensational Dhemaji's machete attack succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.

Reportedly, she was undergoing treatment at Brahmaputra Nursing Home in Dibrugarh where she breathed her last.

Reportedly, the victim identified as Nandita Saikia who hails from Naba Kathbaru village Dhakuakhana was attacked on Saturday by one Rintu Sharma with a machete for rejecting his marriage proposal.

His family had reportedly gone to the victim’s house a few days ago with a marriage proposal which was turned down by the girl.

The accused also attacked the victim’s classmate injuring her severely.

In a video that is doing rounds on social media, the accused with a bloodied machete can be seen confessing to what he did without any remorse.

The victim was a B.A. third-semester student of Maridhal College in Dhemaji.

Students of Maridhal College carried out a protest against the heinous attack on Tuesday in Dhemaji town.
