Assam | Final Draft Of NRC On July 31st

Guwahati, June 30, 2019:

The central government on Saturday in an official statement given the deadline to update the under-process National Register of Citizens (NRC) list to July 31.

Earlier, the process of updation of the NRC was extended by six months to in December last year.

However, again it has been extended by 1 month from June 30 to July 31 by the Registrar General of Citizen Registration.

1,02,462 people were excluded from the additional draft which was published a week before. In the Additional Draft Exclusions List are those persons whose names were included in the Draft NRC published on 30th July 2018, but have been subsequently found ineligible due to the following reasons: Persons who were found to be DF (Declared Foreigner) or DV (Doubtful Voter) or PFT (persons with cases Pending at Foreigners Tribunals) or their descendants, as applicable, discovered after publication of Draft NRC, Persons who were found to be ineligible while appearing as witness in hearings held for disposal of Claims & Objections, and Persons who were found to be ineligible during the process of verification carried out by the Local Registrars of Citizens Registration (LRCRs) under provisions of Clause 4(3), after publication of Complete Draft NRC on 30th July, 2018.

The list of people dropped in the latest NRC draft can be found on the National Register of Citizens’ website- www.nrcassam.nic.in. The excluded people will get the chance to prove their claims at the registered NSK centers by July 11.

It is to be mentioned that 40 lakh people were excluded from the NRC citizen draft’s list published on July 30 last year. The entire NRC process in Assam is being carried out under the monitoring of the Supreme Court.
