Assam: Former congress leader Jury Sharma Bordoloi joins BJP

GUWAHATI: Former Congress leader Jury Sharma Bordoloi on  Friday joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) along with a number of her supporters

Speaking on the occasion, Bordoloi said, “Deeply obliged for the warm welcome by BJP Assam Pradesh to their party in the presence of state president Bhabesh Kalitaand other senior leaders of the party. I hope and pledge to be of service to this great party and the nation. Bharat Mata ki Jai!”

Bordoloi had resigned from the Congress on June 18 after serving as the president of the committee. She resigned after Rupjyoti Kurmi had left the party and resigned as an MLA.
Kurmi later joined the BJP on June 21, in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita welcomed bordoloi to the saffron party and said that BJP doesn’t do politics for power. Their aim is to promote thei culture and heritage of the state globally, he added.
Taking a dig at her previous party,  Bordoloi alleged that Congress has mastered the art of making false promises to trick people.

“People do not want Rahul Gandhi as their leader. We lost the last election for this very reason,” she claimed.
