Assam Govt changes rules for COVID-19 tests; Check the details here

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Wednesday changed the norms of the COVID-19 tests for people arriving in Guwahati.

Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister announced that the COVID test for the incoming flight passengers will be conducted at Guwahati Airport itself instead of the Sarusajai Stadium, where a massive facility for COVID-19 patients has been erected. Ealier, the passengers arriving the capital city had to mandatorily go to Sarusajai for testing.

The minister also informed that the air passengers travelling within Assam and those travelling between Northeastern states will no longer require a mandatory COVID-19 test.

“From next week- 1. #COVID19 test for incoming flight passengers will be done in Guwahati Airport itself instead of Xarusajai. 2. Air passengers travelling within Assam and those travelling between North East States will no longer require mandatory #COVID19 testing,” Sarma tweet.

Assam's COVID-19 death toll increased to 966 on Tuesday as two more person succumbed to the disease, while 242 new cases took the tally to 2,10,696, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
