GUWAHATI: The Assam government yesterday decided approval to begin the process of filling 22,921 sanctioned vacant posts in the state Education Department out of the existing 1 lakh vacancies.

Among the 22,921  vacant posts--10,000 in elementary schools and 12,921 in secondary schools.

Meanwhile, the government will also decides to hold a special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examination for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Hill Tribes. The special TET exam will be held from September 1.

The remaining posts will be filled by the Department of Secondary Education.

The decision was taken in the Assam cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Here's the other key decisions are taken by the Assam government in the meeting:

The indigenous landless people of Assam to be provided with direct 'myadi patta'.In the current system, the government allots land to indigenous landless people who can then apply for'myadi patta' after three years.

Citizens who have received land pattas from the government cannot sell or hand over the land to another within 15 years.

No permission from the government is required for the sale or purchase of flats. The current system is convoluted, mandating permission from deputy commissioners and circle officers and circle officers, etc.

Traders no longer need to go to the municipality for a trade licence. The entire application process for a licence will be completed online.

No new cases will be registered at the Foreigners Tribunals (FT) against members of the Gorkha community, and that the government decided to withdraw all cases against them in FT.
