Assam: Govt doing politics in the name of COVID-19 by using me, says Debarata Saikia

The Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia has been under isolation as his security personnel were found to be COVID-19 positive.

"Today is 17th, I am going to Guwahati from Nazira. I came here the last 27th and self quarantined for 10 days. On 7th my house was declared as containment and ever since I am under home isolation. But, my security who got COVID19 positive were not staying near my house yet my house has been declared as an epicentre of COVID19", said Saikia.

Debabratat Saikia further stated that "tracking, tracing and treatment has not been done and not even sanitisation of his house. No frontline health care workers have approached me and no-one enquired about my health to check whether I am alive".

The Leader of Opposition linked the Government of doing politics with corona. "On 20th July I protested that don't do politics in the name of corona, but the govt is now doing politics of corona by politically sacrificing me".

Earlier, Senior Congress leader Durga Das Boro has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been doing politics in the name of COVID-19.

“The BJP is doing politics as the 14 containment zones should have ended and no health officials went to take stock of the situation. Saikia has already informed Sanjay Krishna regarding the situation. I request govt to stop politics in the name of COVID-19”, said Boro.
