The Guwahati Central Mall, located near the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden, has been reopened over two months after the complete lockdown was enforced across the country to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, the Guwahati Central Mall said, “We have reopened the mall adhering to the government’s guideline. All precautionary measures including social distancing and sanitizing have been taken at the mall to prevent the spread of the lethal virus. Customers wearing no face masks will be allowed to purchase anything.”

India is currently under first phase of Unlock with maximum relaxation in areas except red zone. The country was under lockdown since March 25th, 2020, when the first phase of the lockdown was enforced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi initially for 21 days, which was later extended to May 31st, 2020.

Assam has registered 2773 confirmed COVID-19 cases and four deaths due to the infection. Of the 2773 cases, 2104 are active and 665 have been cured and discharged so far.

As far as national tally is concerned, the country has took over Spain with over 2.56 lakh confirmed COVID-19 cases and 7200 deaths.
