Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma diagnosed with kidney stone

Assam Health, Education, and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been diagnosed with a kidney stone.

A team of doctors of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) have detected a kidney stone measuring 3.76 mm through Ultra Sonography in VUJ position.

“After an episode of extreme pain in the stomach, doctors in GMCH have detected a kidney stone measuring 3.76 mm through Ultra Sonography in VUJ position. Taking saline and injections to overcome the pain. Will take rest for the day (sic),” the minister tweeted.

Sarma is currently on rest at his residence. The doctors have denied the need for surgery.

Netizens and fans wished his speedy recovery at this crucial juncture of the state caused by the COVID-19, which infected 3943 people and claimed nine lives so far. National spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sambit Patra also wished his speedy recovery.

It may be mentioned that Himanta Biswa Sarma has been active since the state reported its first COVID-19 case on March 31^st, 2020. He has continuously been keeping people updated with the developments related to the COVID-19 24x7.

Many credited him with the state’s success in containing the spread of the COVID-19 in comparison to most of the states in the country.

Assam has the highest COVID-19 cases in the Northeast followed by 1046 in Tripura and 449 in Manpiur and 163 in Nagaland. Sikkim, which had remaind corona free till May 23rd, 2020, has registered 68 confirmed COVID-19 cases so far.
