Tinsukia, December 8, 2019:

Members of the Hindu organization took to the streets and burned tyres to express their disdain for the Bill. They further yelled slogans against the ruling BJP party, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Amit Shah.

One of the protesters told the media, "We are burning tyres and protesting against the Modi. We don't want the CAB, and we will never accept it. If the CAB is passed, illegal Bangladeshis will become citizens. Assam is not a dumping ground for illegal Bangladeshis."

It may be mentioned here that the Government is aiming to amend a 1955 law that grants citizenship to persecuted Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis and Christians from the Muslim-dominated countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan if they have lived in India for six years or more.
