Assam: Historic Bodo Peace Agreement Likely to be Signed on Jan 27

Guwahati, January 25, 2020:

The much anticipated tripartite agreement between the Centre and all the factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) is likely to be inked on Monday, January 27.

The senior leaders of the militant group who have been camping in Delhi since Thursday, held informal discussions with Centre’s interlocutor AB Mathur and officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to reports, final discussions and negotiations are being held before signing the agreement. A top leader of the Gobinda Basumatary-led NDFB (Progressive) said that some points remain to be agreed upon and the final negotiations are going on. The leader also said that that the agreement would signed in the next one or two days.

It may be mentioned here that more than fifty cadres of the proscribed outfit had returned to India from Myanmar through the Nagaland and Manipur international borders in order to discuss peace deals with the government. They arrived with their families on January 11 to venture into a more peaceful world by discussing their issues with the centre and come to a peaceful solution.
