Guwahati, July 18, 2019:

Padmapani Bora, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer hailing from Assam and currently serving as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, has earned love, respect and admiration from all corners of the country for an act of great benevolence.

This young officer was apparently so moved by the devastation caused by floods in his state, that he has decided to contribute his 10 days' salary for flood relief efforts to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Bora has stated that he made this decision after seeing the "painful images of helpless people and endangered wildlife".

Taking to social media platform Twitter, he wrote: "It’s heartbreaking to see the divastating effect of flood in Assam. The painful images of helpless people and endangered wildlife are really disturbing. As a contribution, I donate my 10 days of salary to the Assam’s Chief Minister’s Relief Fund"

In his Twitter bio, Bora describes himself as a 'writer, columnist and career bureaucrat belongs to Indian Revenue Service, presently working as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax at Government of India'.

It may be mentioned that earlier, action superstar Akshay Kumar has also donated a sum of Rupees two crores for the flood relief efforts in Assam. Moreover, stars like Diya Mirza, Priyanka Chopra, and Shraddha Kapoor have also appealed well-to-do people to make  donations for the flood-affected.
