Assam: Is Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi joining BJP?

In a letter sent written by the Gaon Panchayat member of BJP, they have will oppose if Rupjyoti Kurmi, Congress MLA from Mariani come to BJP. The members have written on the letter that, "Kurmi has corruption issues and shouldn't join the party. He has done no development for Mariani".

Rupyoti Kurmu's links with BJP has been a contention which has made the news. Earlier, he denied about joining the BJP as he saw a dream of his mother who told him not to leave Congress for the BJP, as per a source. Following this, he has been constantly denying joining the BJP amid the links.

However, as per a local source close to the matter, alleging that Rupjyoti Kurmi has now close links with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and a person from the BJP on anonymity even acknowledged it. He alleged that on public, Kurmi maintains his Congress loyalty, but he's an RSS man under the table.

Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Rajya Sabha MP, meanwhile has maintained good relations with Kurmi. They have always been maintained good relations. Now, political sources believe this can indicate that Kurmi will have easy entry to BJP once he decides.

As per the source, the majority of BJP workers are not happy with Kurmi joining the party and might even quit if he joins. A political observer of Upper Assam believes that this might be the end game for Congress in Mariani if Kurmi joins the BJP and Tasa is using Kurmi to destroy the Congress base in Mariani.

The political equations have started to resurface as the Assembly Elections come nearer in the next year. Much to be seen as how the developments take shape.
