Assam: Kokrajhar police seize huge consignment of ganja, detain 2

Acting on specific inputs, the Kokrajhar police in Assam seized a huge consignment of ganja in the wee hours of July 29^th, 2020.

The IC Simaltapu OP and staffs intercepted one ten wheeler truck (container) bearing registration number PB 11C J 8539 suspected to be carrying Ganja. Later SDPO Gossaigaon in presence of independent witnesses seized 61 bags of ganja (total weight 587 kg) from the truck by observing all legal formalities. The truck was coming from Imphal (Manipur) and on the way to Kalkata. The driver and handyman of the vehicle have been arrested in this connection. Interrogation is on.

The accused are Harjit Singh of Sekha road, Moran Wala raah, Near Bheema di Chakkl in Barnala district in Punjab and Hardeep Singh of Kurura in Barnala district in Punjab.

Further investigation and needful action is going on.

In two different operations, troops of Border Security Force under Guwahati Frontier, Assam seized 20 Kg of Ganja and 187 bottles Phensedyl in the bordering areas of village Nagar Singimari and village Kaiterbari, PS-Sitalkuchi and Sitai, District Coohbehar (WB), while these contraband items were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. 

Acting on tip-off, on of 28^th July 2020 troops of Border Out Post Fulbari, of  47 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a special operation in general area of village Nagar Singimari, PS- Sitalkuchi, Distt- Coochbehar (WB) and seized 04 Packets of Ganja (Total 20 Kgs) which were wrapped in plastic.  

In Second operation, acting on tip-off, troops of Border Out Post Sabri, of  100 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a special operation in general area of village Kaiterbari, , PS- Sitai, Distt- Coochbehar (WB) and seized 02 Packet of Phensedyl (Total 87 bottles) which were wrapped in plastic on the intervening night of  28/29  July 2020.       

Seized Ganja and Phensedyl being handed over to Police Station Sitalkuchi and Sitai, Distt- Coochbehar (WB) for further legal action.
