Assam: Kukis Celebrate 'Chavang Kut' Festival with Grandeur in Guwahati

Guwahati, November 1, 2019:

Guwahati celebrated the 'Chavang Kut' festival of the Kuki tribe with great fervor.

Kukis residing in the city came together to join in the celebration of the annual post-harvest festival at the Shilpgram Auditorium.

The event witnessed a footfall of more than 800 people. Paul Hangsing (add who he is) as the KUTPA (add what this is).

A slew of cultural programs, including dance and folk songs were performed by the Kukis. The event also showcased the rich culture and traditions of the tribe by displaying various ethnic costumes.

It may be mentioned here that the day is also celebrated to mark the centenary of the Anglo-Kuki War fought against the British in 1917-1919.

A seminar cum lecture on Anglo- Kuki war was also delivered by Dr N Kipgen, Associate Professor of IIT Guwahati on the occasion.

Chavang Kut saw a cultural display of the traditional customs and bonding that the Kukis have since time immemorial.
