Assam logs 1844 fresh COVID-19 cases, 14 deaths in 24 hours

GUWAHATI: Assam’s COVID-19 tally has reached 2,37,533, with 1844 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours.

At least 14 people infected with the virus had died during the period.

Of the total 1844 fresh cases, Kamrup Metro (M) alone recorded 791 cases, Dibrugarh (190), Nagaon (83), and Kamrup Rural (82).

Out of the 14 deaths, Kamrup (M) alone reported 8 deaths while Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Kamrup (R), Morigaon, Nalbari, and Sonitpur each reported one death.

With the news fatalities, the death toll stands at 1,200, and the death rate stands at 0.51%.

Currently, the state has 15,470 active cases, while 558 patients have been discharged during the day taking the count of recoveries in the state to 2,19,516. The recovery rate in the state now is 92.41% %.

The new cases have been detected out of 33,674 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The state has so far tested a total of 82,74,129 samples for COVID-19.

A total of 20,19,915 people, including 5,22,962 frontline workers, 3,15,746 healthcare workers and 11,81,207 people above 45 years have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine in the state so far.
