In a shocking incident, a man was brutally beaten by a group of men in Baksa district of Assam on Thursday.

BAKSA: In a shocking incident, a man was brutally beaten by a group of men in Baksa district of Assam on Thursday.

The victim identified as Biswajit Das was abducted from his own shop situated near the Indo-Bhutan border in Darangamela in Tamulpur sub-division on Thursday evening.

Suspected to be a case of moral policing, the victim was beaten black and blue in a dense forest nearby.

After discovering that Das is missing, the locals carried out search operation and later found him in a severely injured state in a forest in Shashipur area.

Reports claim that the assaulters were following the instructions of a Gorkha Students' body leader.

The incident created an outrage among the locals.

" I was working on my shop when about 10-15 men came to me asked to go with them. They said there is something that needs to be fixed hence they wanted me to go with them. They took me to a dense forest nearby where more men were present", narrated the victim.

According to Das, the men tied him up and beat him brutally.

"They even urinated on my face and broke my arm", said Das.

Even though the victim was rushed to Kumarikata State Dispensary, the doctors referred him to GMCH for further treatment owing to his severe injuries.

His family file a complaint at Darangamela Police station. However, Police has not captured anyone yet in connection with the case.
