Guwahati, December 8, 2019:

With the din over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill reaching a fever-pitch in Assam, 'missing' posters of Assam's Rajya Sabha MP,' Birendra Prasad Baishya, have been spotted in the campus of the prestigious Cotton University of Assam.

The posters, which have Baishya’s image, said, “If anyone has any information about Baishya kindly contact the students of Cotton University.”

Baishya, who is from the AGP party, has been condemned along with his other party members, for allegedly staying mum on the issue.

Baishya's partymate Atul Bora too has come under fire from the indigenous organizations in the state for his 'silence' on the issue.

Today, anti-CAB activists gheraoed Bora's residence in Golaghat district in the state, demanding answers from the AGP leader as to who his allegiance lies with -- the people of Assam, or the BJP party.

The protests in Dibrugarh took a turn for the ugly, when activists of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) barged into a regional office of the regional party, and vandalized valuables.

In footage of the incident that is quickly going viral on social media, AASU activists can be seen swarming into an AGP office. The irate protesters then go on to kick chairs and create overall mayhem inside the office of the state’s largest regional party. The AASU members can also be seen arguing with the local-level AGP activists at the office, and demand answers from them, as to why they are not opposing the CAB.
