Rajya Sabha MP from Assam Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, while accusing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government for pathetic condition of the economy in the country, demanded to stop exploiting the labour section of the society.

He said that the government has failed to chalk out plan to revive the destroyed economy caused by the coronavirus pandemic. “Instead of finding ways to revive the economy, the government is busy is exploiting the labour section by amending the labour act. This is unfortunate,” he added.

Vehemently opposing the amendments in the labour act, the parliamentarian demanded to stop ‘exploiting’ the labours.

He further appealed the Prime Minister to implement a new scheme to protect the interest of the economically weaker section of the society at this time of emergency.

Besides, he condemned the eviction drive carried out at Amsang wildlife sanctuary during the time of pandemic. “The eviction was completely anti-indigenous move. We strongly condemn the act of the government,” he added while demanding withdrawal of the eviction notice.
