Assam: Nalbari's Mallapara Sealed Off after Detection of First COVID-19 Cases

Nalbari, April 1, 2020:

The District Magistrate of Nalbari, Assam has issued an order to immediately seal Mallapara area from Wednesday until further orders after one COVID-19 positive patient was under home quarantine in the said area.

Md Arshad Ali, who was on home quarantine in Nalbari's Mallapara area, tested positive of COVID-19, follwoing which, the District Magistrate, has prohibited any kind of movement until further orders.

"In view of detection of one COVID-19 positive case namely Md. Arshad Ali, S/O Md Idris, Markaz-Shamli, Vill. Kerana, Dist.-Shamli, State - Uttar Pradesh, PIN-247774 who was on home quarantine at Mallapara, Nalbari town, it is felt necessary to immediately seal the geographical area of Mallapara to arrest the spread of COVID-19 in the interest of public health," read the order.

As per the order, no entry and exit will be allowed in the Circuit House Road, Palla Road, Nalbari, Boundary Wall of Magistrate Colony and Govt. Gurdon HSS playground. Vehicular movement is also strictly prohibited.

It may be mentioned here that Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has just confirmed that the number of cases of the coronavirus or COVID-19 has risen to 13 in Assam.

This announcement has been made hours after an earlier announcement in which he had stated that 4 more cases of the virus had been detected in the State. The Minister has also claimed that they had attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz in New Delhi’s South-West.

Tweeting out about this latest development via Twitter, the Finance & Health  “Alert ~ 8 more COVID 19 positive cases in Assam, taking the total to 13. All eight new cases are of people who also participated in Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz.”
