Assam: PDCK, 6 other rebel outfits to lay down arms before Amit Shah on Feb 25

DIPHU:  People's Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) and six other outlawed outfits will lay down arms during Union home minister Amit Shah's visit to Karbi Anglong district of Assam on February 25.

The PDCK has also declared a unilateral ceasefire since yesterday in the run-up to the surrender ceremony.

In a statement, PDCK chairman JK Lijang declared the "unilateral cessation of hostilities to give impetus to resolving the vexed political conflicts among all stakeholders".

He hoped the Centre would respond with “seriousness and sincerity” to arrive at an amicable political situation.

"We also seek grant of general amnesty from all criminal charges and compensatory financial grant for their rehabilitation in society," Lijang stated. Laying down of arms by Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) and Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) will put an end to insurgency in the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
