GUWAHATI: At a time when the world is fighting a battle against the deadly COVID pandemic, cybercrime seems to have increased significantly.

The Assam Police Department has warned about the KYC verification scam in which scammers can access your private information to dupe you.

To prevent users from falling into this trap, the Assam Police has shared some tips to help users from falling victim to similar frauds.

Users have been advised not to respond to scam calls or messages, share any type of OTP, CVC number, and password, or download an app based on their instructions.

Here is how you can keep KYC scammer at bay:

1. Do not respond to scam calls or messages requesting KYC verification.

Do not install any App on their advice.

Never click on suspicious links sent by them via email or text message.

Never share your bank account card or any other details including OTP, CVC number, and password.

"Beware of KYC Scammers lurking around to dupe gullible users and access private and sensitive information. Stay vigilant, get smart and get one step ahead. Here's a quick guide on how to keep KYC scammers at bay," Assam police tweeted, before going on to list the precautionary measures.
