Assam: Preparations underway for PM Modi visit on Jan 23

GUWAHATI: Continuing the mega campaigning ahead of the Assembly polls in Assam, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to arrive in Assam on January 23 to blow the poll bugle for the saffron party.

MP Tapan Gogoi, Kamakhya Tassa, Minister Jogen Mohan, and DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta visited today the historical Jerenga Pathar field at Sivasagar in preparation for the proposed visit of the PM.

Around the same time, PM Modi's right-hand man Amit Shah will also undertake a whirlwind tour in the next fortnight, during which he will also address rallies in Assam.

Shah will address public rallies and take part in road shows, sources said on Tuesday.

Shah will undertake a visit to West Bengal on January 30 and 31 and meet BJP leaders and workers.

He will also take part in public meetings there, sources told a news agency. Shah will visit Assam on January 24 during which he will address a party rally in Nalbari. He will also visit an event in Kokrajhar to commemorate one year of the signing of the BTR Accord.

The Home Minister will visit Karnataka on January 16 and 17 where he will take part in a few government functions and interact with party leaders and workers.
