Assam records 85 COVID deaths in 24 hours, new caes crosses 6200 mark

GUWAHATI: In the past 24 hours as many as 85 people infected with COVID-19 had died in Assam, this year's the highest single-day fatalities so far taking the death toll to 39264.

On the other hand, Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 3,04,429 as the state reported this year’s highest single-day spike of 6,258 new cases.

Of the 85 new deaths, 35 were reported from Kamrup (M), followed by Dibrugarh (7), Nagaon (6), four each in Barpeta, Sivasagar, Tinsukia (3), two each in Cachar, Goalpara, Nalbari, and one death each in Bongaigaon and Dhemaji district respectively.

The current death rate in the state is 0.60 per cent.

On the other hand, 1,347 more COVID-19 patients have died for other reasons so far in the state.

Assam currently has 39, 264 active COVID-19 cases.

During the period, 4,409  people recovered from the disease taking the total number of recoveries to 2, 61,980.

The recovery rate now stands at 86.06 per cent.

The 5,803 new positive cases included 1,585 from Kamrup (M), 527 from Kamrup (R), 507 from Dibrugarh, and 313 from Nagaon districts.

The positivity rate stood at 9.13% per cent.

Altogether 68, 572 samples were tested for COVID-19 today, taking the total number of such tests to 92,17,510.

On the other hand, a total of 31,93,082 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine so far in the state.
