Assam registers highest COVID-19 cases in single day, count stands at 259

With 3 fresh cases reported in Assam, the state tally has gone up to 259 on May 22, 2020. The cases have been reported one each from Nagaon, Sivasagar and Tinsukia.

Of the 259 corona cases, there are 54 recovered cases and 198 active cases. The total number of the death toll is 4 and so far 3 cases have been migrated.

Earlier, 26 fresh cases reported in Assam, the state tally has gone up to 256 on May 22, 2020. The cases have been reported all from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre.

Assam has reported so far 49 cases today, which is joint highest so far in a single day for the state.

Assam has reported 23 cases on May 21, 2020 taking the total over 200. The state has registered its second 100 cases in just four days while there were just 100 cases on May 17, 2020. Most of the cases have a travel history.

The novel coronavirus has infected a total of 1,18,447 people and claimed 3,583 lives as on May 22, 2020, morning, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross a thousand deaths. It has recorded 41,642 corona cases with 11,726 cured and 1454 deaths. The western state is followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Gujarat has corona 12,905 cases with 5488 cured and 773 deaths. Tamil Nadu has crossed 13,967 cases with 6282 cured and 94 deaths. The National Capital with 11,659  COVID-19 cases has crossed the 10 thousand mark on May 18^th, 2020. So far, 5567 have been cured in Delhi with 194 deaths.

India has surpassed the China’s official figure of 82,933 confirmed coronavirus cases. India is the 11^th most cases in the world. So far, the USA has the highest number of covid19 cases at 1,592,723.
