Assam reports 7th COVID-19 death, confirmed cases soar to 3430

Assam has registered 7^th death due to the COVID-19 infection on June 12^th, 2020. The deceased has been identified as Mangali Rani Das.

Das, who was admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), was a cancer patient and tested positive for COVID-19 after she returned from Delhi.

A cancer patient, her son Jhintu Das is also undergoing treatment at SMC&H. The deceased had gone to Delhi for treatment along with her son and was under home quarantine. As soon as their swab samples tested positive on June 6, the district administration declared Bakrihower Part I as a containment zone. Another COVID-19 positive patient named Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, of Borjurai village under Hailakandi revenue circle died at SMC&H on April 10 last. He had attended the Markaz event at Nizamuddin in Delhi. 

The state has registered a total of 3430 confirmed COVID-19 cases; of which 1989 are active and 1432 have been cured and discharged.

Assam has registered the highest number of the COVID-19 cases followed by 916 in Tripura, 366 in Manipur and 128 in Nagaland.

There are currently 53 active cases, which include two deaths. 39 patients after being cured have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar, and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. Altogether 1,060 persons are under institutional quarantine while 912 under home quarantine. Of the 3,009 swab samples taken, 1,992 have turned out to be negative. Results of 892 swab samples are awaited.

India COVID-19 cases

India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of corona positives on June 3rd. As on June 11th, the country currently has 298K confirmed COVID-19 cases, 141842 active cases with 147194 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 8498.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 3 thousand deaths. It has recorded 94041 corona cases with 44517 cured, 3438 deaths, and 46086 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 32810 cases with 12245 cured, 984 deaths, and 19581 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 36841 positive cases with 19333 cured, 3262 deaths, 17182 active cases. Gujarat with 21521 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 14735 have been cured, 1347 deaths, and 5439 active cases.
