Assam reports 8th COVID-19 death amid cremation issues, confirmed cases at 3498

Assam has registered 8^th death due to the COVID-19 infection on June 12^th, 2020. Along with that, another 68 cases detected in the state.

Assam has registered a total of 3498 confirmed COVID-19 cases; of which 1950 are active and 1537 have been cured and discharged.

Assam has registered the highest number of the COVID-19 cases followed by 916 in Tripura, 366 in Manipur and 128 in Nagaland.

Taking stock of the matter Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted:

Assam: Beyond the issue

There is an uproar at Ulubari cremation, Assam ground after the district administration wanted to cremate a COVID 19 patient.

The Assam district administration had identified a secluded place at Chandrapur for a crematorium for COVID 19 related deaths after HBS instructed the DCs of all district. But, no progress has been observed to date despite the state crossed 3000 mark.

India COVID-19 cases

India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of corona positives on June 3rd. As on June 12th, the country currently has 298K confirmed COVID-19 cases, 141842 active cases with 147194 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 8498.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 3 thousand deaths. It has recorded 94041 corona cases with 44517 cured, 3438 deaths, and 46086 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 32810 cases with 12245 cured, 984 deaths, and 19581 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 36841 positive cases with 19333 cured, 3262 deaths, 17182 active cases. Gujarat with 21521 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 14735 have been cured, 1347 deaths, and 5439 active cases.
