Assam: Retired PSU employees stage protest in Delhi demanding pensions

New Delhi, December 6, 2019:

The All Assam Public Sector Undertaking Pensioners Association on Friday staged a sit in protest in front of the Employment Providenet Fund Office in New Delhi demanding a higher amount from the Government as pension.

The All Assam Public Sector Undertaking Pensioners Association has put forward five demands to be fulfilled immediately.

The protesters demanded implementation of the Higher Wage Pension as per the verdict of the Supreme Court pronounced on October 4, 2016. They also demanded a minimum monthly pension of Rs. 7500 from the concerned authorities, to help them meet their daily needs.

The association further urged the Central DA to sanction the pensions on a timely basis and also demanded that the pensioners should get proper medical facilities and health checkups.

It is to be mentioned here that the retired employees in many corporations in Assam and other states have not received their pensions since the day of retirement. Many of these pensioners have been demanding a rise in the paltry sums that are being given to them as pensions. Moreover, many of the former PSU employees have also had to face untold miseries as they have been made to face economic hardships after retirement.
