In a major breakthrough against extortion activities by undergrounds in Nagaland, troops of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Nagaland Police apprehended three cadres of NSCN (K-YA) near Old Showba, Nikheku and Thilixu village in Dimapur, Nagaland between June 27th-28th, 2020.

Based on specific inputs, the troops launched an operation and apprehended the cadres belonging to the proscribed group from the area. The apprehended cadres have been identified as SS Secy Hoto Swu, PS of SS Brig Akhao Zhimo, Fin Kilonser; SS Captain Huto, and SS Leacy Rolem. The team also recovered one HK Assault Rifle with the magazine, one Point 22mm Rifle, one Single Barrel Rifle, one Grenade, two Pistols, assorted ammunition, and Extortion slips.

The apprehended individuals along with recovered items have been handed over to Diphupar Police Station for further investigations.

Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Indian Army in a joint operation with Arunachal Police apprehended two cadres of NSCN(R) near Kangkho in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh on Jun 19. Based on a specific input the team launched a swift operation in the area.

During the search the team apprehended two active cadres identified as SS Private Thungsam Ngemu and SS Private Wangphik Khohoi. The apprehended insurgents are suspected to be involved in extortion activities for the faction in the district.

The team also recovered one Point 22 Pistol, one 7.65 mm Pistol and seven live rounds of ammunition from the cadres.

The apprehension of the cadre has dealt a major blow to the activities of NSCN (R) in the district. The apprehended individuals along with recovered stores have been handed over to Changlang Police Station for further investigations.
