Road connectivity between Bhur Tinali and Bengtal area under Runikhata police station in Chirang district, Assam was disrupted on Friday which has hit common masses on commuting due to a PWD road damaged at Uttar Dakhingao village.
According to local people, a PWD road connecting Bhur Tinali and Bengtol bazar has been damaged at Uttar Dakhingao village, Assam due to overflowing of irrigation canal in the area.The heavy rain waters have washed away the road connectivity and broke away the road which has led the paddy field covering an approximate area of 24 hectares has been damaged in the area.
Concern department officials rushed the spot and started repair the damage road with necessary steps,said a senior official.
Meanwhile, the artificial floods have affected road communication as well commuters in Kokrajhar town, Assam and its adjoining areas since Thursday evening due to incessant rainfall. The flood hit the citizens in the town which has been occurring due to lack of proper drainage system in the town.
The incessant raining for a few days in the region, several road communications are affected besides creating resented among residents at various places in Kokrajhar town, Assam. Kokrajhar town seems like floody because the drainage system in the town is not getting proper structures. The rainwater and drain’s waters have covered up all roads, apart from JD Road, Vivekananda Path, CL Brahmin Road, New Colony, Santhinagar, Ramkrishnapur near UN Academy are seen filled with artificial floodwaters.
Citizens in Kokrajhar town, have been facing hardships in their leading life due to artificial floods. Residents alleged that the floods have been affected due to lack of drainage system in Kokrajhar town. They demanded proper drainage system in the town to meet healthy living free from artificial floods.
‘Even though there is avail of the drainage system along with the town, yet artificial floods have been reported from the residents. It is happening due to lack of drainage system. People are living underwaters at various wards under Kokrajhar Municipality Board’, said a citizen at New Colony in Kokrajhar town, Assam.
On the other hand, the Longa River at Dotma in the district of Assam has eroded nearby embankment due to river water flows above the river. Local citizens have put the demand to the concerned department for the strict protection of the river.
