DHUBRI: Members of Sodou Axom Deshi Jonogoshti Jatiya Sansad (SADJJS), on Saturday alleged that there has been misappropriation of funds almost 10 crores of donation money in the last 14 years, by the management committee of the historic Panbari Mosque.

Addressing a press conference in Dhubri, Enamul Hoque the central president of 'SADJJS' stated that the historic Panbari Mosque is a property of the country and a pride for every person of Assam.

Since last 14 years no proper audit has been done and the same set of persons become the member of management commitee of the historic Mosque, Hoque stated.

He also added that recently a body of indigenous muslims have protested on the issue, which has brought the misappropriation of funds to lime light.

"Unfortunately, this body of indigenous muslims were also managed by the Mosque Management Committee", Hoque alleged.

He also stated that a student wing that protects and stands for immigrant people of Assam is backing the committee.

Hoque, expressing anger said that many construction works of the historic Panbari mosque were carried out earlier. Whereas the historic Panbari Mosque is under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India.

In such a case, construction of a wall at Panbari Mosque or any relevant work outside the mosque cannot be done without the permission of Archaeological Survey of India but " Many construction works in the land and property of the historic Panbari Mosque has been carried out recently for private benifits".

He claimed that the desi people who have been living in Assam and western Assam for ages are real residents of Kamatapur and the historic Panbari Mosque should be operated by the indigenous people of Assam.
