In a bid to promote to cultural, social, linguistic identity and heritage of Assamese people, the Assam Cabinet on Saturday took a few key resolutions amid the massive protests against the contentious Citizenship Bill that rage across the land.

The Cabinet has formed a Autonomous Council — the Koch-Rajbonhshi council — in Goalpara district of Assam. (excluding Bodo, Rabha, Hajong areas).

Furthermore, the CEMs of the tribal councils will be ex-officio members of sub-divisions Land Advisory Committee of Sub-divisions within their territorial jurisdiction.

A new Autonomous for the Rajbongshis will be constitution. Two more councils for Morans and Motoks will be created.
