Assam: Sexual abuse allegations levelled against Kokrajhar Additional Deputy Commissioner

KOKRAJHAR: Allegations of sexual abuse have been leveled against Debeswar Borah, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Kokrajhar district in Assam.

A 32-old-year woman lodged an FIR with Kokrajhar police station against Additional Deputy Commissioner Borah for an alleged attempt to rape and usage of "unsuitable" words against a woman.

The accuser, who hails from Kokrajhar town, filed the FIR on November 24 last, and the police have registered case no.0710/ 2020, under section 354/354-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to the accuser, she was called by ADC Borah to his residence on November 22 (Sunday) right around 11 am for a land-related official matter where she was subjected to the ADC's advances.

"Borah had attempted to rape me by and used slang words. When Borah made the sexual advances, I promtly left the room," the accuser stated, adding that she wants strict legal action and punishment against the accused Borah through the mechanism of Law.

Meanwhile, the Lower Assam NGO Forum and women's organizations in Kokrajhar have demanded strict action in the sexual abuse case and have demanded a strict investigation into the incident and punishment for Borah.

ADC Borah, on the other hand, has filed a counter FIR with Kokrajhar police station against the woman.
