Assam: Slain constable Habibur Rahman’s family demands punishment to Debolal Gorlosa

The family of the constable Habibur Rahman, who was allegedly murdered by North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief executive member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa, demanded punishment to the latter.

“Whoever killed my husband should get strict punishment. Nobody can understand the paijn, I am passing through. Everybody knows who is the murderer. We have faith in the judiciary. We hope that the court will reward punishment to the accused,” wife of the slain PSO said.

The final hearing of the case is going on in the Gauhati High Court today.

The incident took place April 27th, 2007 at Gera Village, Dima Hasao. Former MAC Prafulla Phanglo along with a PSO namely Habibur Rahman was going to Gera Village to hand over a demanded amount of Rs. 50 Lakhs to Debolal Gorlosa alias Denial Dimasa. At that time Debolal Gorlosa was Deputy C-in-C of DHD.

Later, Gorlosa demanded the service arm from the PSO Habibur Rahman. When he denied to hand over the service arms, Gorlosa snatched away the arms and shot Habibur Rahman dead.

An FIR was lodged by Bikash Thousan, who was the Driver of the vehicle, at the the Diyungmukh Police Station. Later on July 27th, 2018, one co-accused Miput Rajiyung alias Action Dimasa became witness of the case. In his statement Rajiyung stated before the District & Session Judge, Dima Hasao that Habibur Rahman was killed by Denial Dimasa.

After recording the statement, the District & Session Judge, Dima Hasao passed an order for hearing additional charge upon Debolal Gorlosa.

But, later, Debolal Gorlosa challenged the order of District & Session Judge, Dima Hasao and legality of the approver before the Gauhati High Court.
